At the Third International Workshop on Automated Program Repair (APR 2022, co-located with ICSE 2022) in Pittsburgh, USA, we presented “Towards JavaScript program repair with Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT-2)” (Lajkó, Csuvik and Vidács).
We fine-tuned GPT-2 on 16,863 JavaScript code snippets to fix JavaScript bugs automatically, at a time when, to our knowledge, it had not been used for program repair. The model learned to write syntactically correct code almost every time; it did not always find a good fix, but reached an overall accuracy of up to 17.25%.
